Quick fixes AG-P009

Let it interview you first

Shared methods · A shared method; linked tool guides explain the exact steps.

You know things about your problem that you don't know are relevant. One instruction turns the model from guesser into interviewer.

Quick fix: Let it interview you first

Instead of Plan my parents' anniversary party. → generic party plan.

Try I need to plan my parents' anniversary party. Before proposing anything, ask me the five most useful questions — one at a time.

Flip who goes first.

Why this works

Half the relevant facts in your head are ones you would never think to volunteer: budget, family politics, the thing that went wrong last year. A model told to answer immediately fills those gaps with averages. A model told to interview you extracts them, and its questions are usually good, because it has seen what tends to matter for tasks like yours. "One at a time" matters: a wall of ten questions gets skimmed, a conversation gets answered.

When this applies

The task is personal or situational: an event, a decision, a plan, a document about your circumstances, and you have not already written the context down.

Template

[The task, one sentence.] Don't answer yet. Interview me first: ask the most useful questions one at a time, and propose a plan only when you have what you need.

Go deeper

This is the conversational route to the right context: instead of you guessing what to include, the model pulls it. If you find yourself giving the same interview answers repeatedly, write them down once.
