Quick fixes AG-P001

Say what you actually want

Shared methods · A shared method; linked tool guides explain the exact steps.

"Make me a plan" produces the average plan for the average person. Name the outcome, and the answer starts being about your situation.

Quick fix: Say what you actually want

Instead of Make me a plan.

Try Make me a 3-day plan for moving my studio, assuming I work Tuesday and Wednesday and have a van only on Thursday.

Name the outcome, the constraints you already know, and what done looks like.

Why this works

The model cannot read your mind, so a vague request gets the most statistically average answer — a generic plan, for a generic person, in a generic situation. Everything specific you add narrows the answer toward your actual case. You always knew the specifics; the step people skip is saying them out loud.

Example

Instead of Write something for the newsletter.

Try Write 150 words for our club newsletter announcing the June tournament: date, that beginners are welcome, and that sign-up closes May 20. Friendly, no exclamation marks.

Template

I want [the concrete outcome]. It is for [who will use it / where it goes]. It must [constraints you already know]. Done looks like [how you will judge it].

Go deeper

The full version of this idea is giving it the right context — what to include, and the cost of including too much. If your request is specific but the quality bar is not, that is its own pattern. And prompts that survive a long task shows the durable version, for requests you will make more than once.
