Quick fixes AG-W004

You are the copy-paste middleware

Shared methods · A shared method; linked tool guides explain the exact steps.

Shuttling text between the chat and your apps, piece by piece, is a job the tools can do. If you moved the same kind of thing three times, stop.

Quick fix: You are the copy-paste middleware

Instead of Copy a paragraph from the document into the chat, copy the improved version back, scroll, copy the next paragraph, repeat twelve times.

Try Give the model the whole document once (attach it, or paste it all) and ask for all twelve improvements in one pass — as a numbered list keyed to the paragraphs, so you can apply them deliberately.

One round trip, not twelve.

Why this works

Per-piece shuttling costs you the switching, loses the surrounding context (each paragraph arrives alone, so the model cannot keep terminology or tone consistent across them), and turns you into the transport layer between two tools. Batching restores the document as one thing: consistency comes back, and your role moves up a level, from courier to reviewer of a change list. When the shuttle crosses apps constantly (chat to editor to spreadsheet and back), the honest fix is one level higher: a mode where the model can touch the artefact directly.

When this applies

Third copy-paste of the same kind within one task, or you catch yourself keeping two windows aligned by hand.

Template

Here is the whole [document/dataset]: [attach or paste]. Go through all of it and give me the changes as a numbered list keyed to [paragraph/row], with each change's reason in one clause.

Go deeper

The rule-based cousin (transforming many similar items) is repeated manual work. When even batching is not enough because the task needs file access, that is a mode question, and what Cowork is covers the agent that holds the files itself.
